PODCASTING SHOULD BE FOR EVERYONE
WesterAudio is a browser-based platform for podcasting: record, mix, and publish without downloading a thing. It started as a tool for two friends and grew into a way to make a great-sounding show affordable for just about anyone.
For a while, I was recording a podcast with my best friend Spencer. We used software like Adobe Audition to mix it, edit it, and publish it. Then life happened, we paused the show, and I stopped using Adobe altogether, so I canceled my subscription.
When the time came to renew, I hesitated. We live in different parts of California, and getting back into it meant paying for a stack of tools just to record together again. So I asked myself a simple question: why not just build something for the two of us to use for free?
The first thing I needed was a way to get us into the same room digitally. A place where Spencer and I could each record our own track, cleanly, ready to mix. Something like the online recording studios out there, but better. The mixing in those tools always felt thin, so I wanted to bring a real DAW-style experience right into the session: record, then send every track straight to the mixer and shape it all in one place.
And once an episode was mixed, I wanted to connect an RSS feed and push it live to every podcast platform at once, with no extra hosting tool and no extra subscription. All of it in a single browser tab. That's WesterAudio.
Anyone should get to make a podcast. Sounding good shouldn't be the hard part, or the expensive one.

BUILT FOR THE PEOPLE PRICED OUT
It's the same spot Spencer and I were in: plenty of people would love to start a show and stall on the price, or on doing it well. WesterAudio is for them, and for anyone watching the monthly bill on a hobby creep higher than it should.
-
FIRST-TIME PODCASTERS
People who want to start a show but feel locked out by the cost of pro tools. There shouldn't be a steep barrier to entry, so there isn't one.
-
HOBBYISTS & FRIENDS
Two people in different cities who just want to record together for the love of it, the way this whole thing began.
-
CREATORS OVERPAYING NOW
Anyone juggling a different app for recording, editing, and hosting, and tired of what the total looks like each month.
EVERYTHING IN ONE BROWSER TAB
THE SAME ROOM, FROM ANYWHERE
Solo or together. Share a four-character room code and everyone records their own clean track, locally, on their own device. Perfect sync. No software, no account. Two friends in different cities, sounding like they're across the same table.
A REAL DAW, NOT A LIGHT TOUCH-UP
Send your tracks straight from the recording room into the Mix Master and shape the whole episode in one sitting. Parametric EQ, a compressor, high- and low-pass filters, studio reverb. Most browser tools stop at volume and fade. This one doesn't.
EXPORT CLEAN, PUBLISH ANYWHERE
Mix done? Export a clean WAV or MP3 that's ready for any podcast host — Spotify, Apple Podcasts, wherever your show lives. One-click RSS publishing from the same tab is where this is headed next.
ACCESSIBLE BY DEFAULT
When Spencer and I weighed renewing all those subscriptions, the cost was the only thing in the way. A lot of would-be podcasters hit that same wall. We think it's backwards for the tools that make you sound good to be the reason you never start.
PRO STAYS CHEAP, ON PURPOSE
Unlocking everything in WesterAudio will always cost a fraction of what four separate apps charge to capture, clean up, and ship a show. We're not chasing a big profit. The whole reason this exists is so you don't have to spend a fortune to make a podcast with your friends.
GREAT SOUND, NOT JUST GOOD ENOUGH
Even at the free level, you should be able to produce a decent-sounding show. At Pro, the goal is higher: podcasts that are indistinguishable from ones made on far more expensive software. Sounding good shouldn't depend on how much you can spend.
MAKE SOMETHING THAT SOUNDS GREAT
No account. No install. No four-app monthly bill. Open a tab, pick your mic, and hit record.
Works in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. No software or sign-up required.
